Hardcore criminal Raja Sahani arrested from Rishikesh

Cuttack: Raja Sahani, a hardcore criminal who escaped from Choudwar jail in Odisha’s Cuttack district on October 2, 2025, has been arrested from Rishikesh. Sahani, a native of Bihar, was involved in a sensational robbery and murder case in Jajpur’s Panikoili area, where two people were killed. He escaped the high-security jail along with another inmate, Madhukanta Kumar, by cutting the grill of their cell.

Kumar was previously arrested from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh in February 2026. The police have intensified their search for Sahani, announcing a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his capture.

The jailbreak has raised concerns about security lapses, with two warders suspended and the jailor transferred. An investigation is underway to determine how the prisoners escaped.
