Goyal Discusses Trade Ties with Four Countries

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held separate bilateral meetings with trade ministers from France, Canada, Saudi Arabia and South Korea during the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee, the United States. With France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness Nicolas Forissier, Goyal explored ways to boost trade and investment, accelerate negotiations on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and expand cooperation in aerospace, UPI and innovation.

Goyal and Canadian International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu reviewed the ongoing India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations. Both sides agreed to work towards faster progress, with the pact targeting bilateral trade of USD 50 billion by 2030.

In talks with Saudi Commerce Minister Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, Goyal discussed the India-GCC Free Trade Agreement negotiations and opportunities to expand investment and commercial cooperation.Goyal also met South Korean Trade Minister Park Jung-Sung to discuss upgrading the India-Korea CEPA, promoting balanced trade and improving market access for Indian agricultural, pharmaceutical and marine products. The two sides also explored ways to attract greater Korean manufacturing investment into India.
