Governor Stresses Character-Building Education at Angul School Event

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Sunday emphasized that true success in life goes beyond professional achievements and material wealth, urging students to focus on becoming responsible citizens and compassionate human beings.

Addressing a school programme at Kaniha in Angul district, the Governor encouraged students to imbibe the values of dedication, discipline, and integrity that the institution has upheld for over seven decades. He noted that education should not only shape careers but also build character, enabling young people to contribute meaningfully to society.

Describing the school as an educational landmark, Dr. Kambhampati recalled that it was founded by eminent freedom fighter, veteran statesman, and former Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, late Pabitra Mohan Pradhan. He highlighted that during a period when the region faced hardship and limited access to education, Pradhan established the institution with a strong belief that education is the most powerful tool for social transformation.

The Governor said the school’s renaming in honour of Pabitra Mohan Pradhan—proposed by legendary leader Dr. Hare Krushna Mahatab—was a fitting tribute to his vision and contribution. He added that the institution stands as a shining example of how committed leadership and public spirit can create lasting societal change.

Dr. Kambhampati lauded the school’s alumni for carrying its values across Odisha and the country, excelling in diverse fields such as education, administration, medicine, science, and public service.

He also appreciated Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who attended the event, for his role in upgrading the institution to a PM Shri Higher Secondary School under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Calling the school a model of inclusive education, the Governor urged all stakeholders to work collectively to take the institution to greater heights as it marks 75 years of dedicated service to society.
