Girl Elopes After Drugging Family in Jajpur
Jajpur: A 14-year-old girl allegedly drugged her family members and ran away with her lover late Wednesday night in Nathuabara village under the Kuakhia police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Reports say the girl mixed sedatives into a curry and served it to her family, including her parents, during dinner. After consuming the meal, the family members fell unconscious, allowing the girl to elope with 24-year-old Deepak Sethi, a resident of Siaria Manpur village in the Dangadi block.
The victims were later rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
This is not the first time the minor has run away with Deepak. She had previously eloped with him in May of the previous year but was found and rescued by police in Kerala.
The Kuakhia police have launched an investigation into the incident and are making efforts to trace the missing girl. According to a relative, the youth arrived at the house in a vehicle, and the elopement was pre-planned. He reportedly provided the girl with sedatives to facilitate her escape, which she had secretly administered to her family.
The girl had met Deepak at school, and their relationship had led to the previous elopement attempt.
