Gas Leak in Rourkela Steel Plant; 3 Officials Hospitalised

Rourkela (Reporters Today Bureau): As many as three officials were hospitalised after gas leaked at a Captive Power Plant of Rourkela Steel Plant this morning.

The victims have been identified as CPP-1 senior official Sourav Sinha, Senior Manager MA Hassan and Senior Technician Pabitra Mohan Sahoo. While Sinha and Hassan have been admitted to the ICU of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela, the senior technician is under treatment at the general ward of the hospital.

The incident took place at around 7.30 am, when around 60 employees were engaged at CPP-1 near blast furnace on premises of the RSP. According to reports, three officials, who were on the duty during the period, fell unconscious after gas leaked from a pipe. Immediately, the victims were rushed to the IGH for treatment.
