FS&CW Dept Gets Highest Share in Odisha Supplementary Budget

Bhubaneswar: The BJP-led Odisha government on Friday tabled the Supplementary Budget for the 2025-26 fiscal, proposing an expenditure of ₹17,440 crore in the State Assembly. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also handles the Finance portfolio, presented the proposal.

The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS&CW) Department received the highest allocation at ₹4,329 crore. Of this, ₹3,000 crore has been earmarked as a Revolving Fund for paddy procurement, while ₹1,325 crore has been set aside to subsidise the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department secured the second-highest allocation at ₹2,000 crore. Key provisions include ₹392 crore for the PM-POSHAN scheme, ₹320 crore for Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAV), and ₹307 crore as state support for the Samagra Shiksha scheme.

The Finance Department received the third-highest allocation of ₹1,422 crore.

In the health sector, the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department was allotted ₹1,159 crore, including ₹994 crore for the National Health Mission.

The Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (A&FE) Department was allocated ₹858 crore, while the Mission Shakti Department received ₹807 crore.

For infrastructure development, the government earmarked ₹1,955 crore in the Supplementary Budget. Additionally, the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department was granted ₹576 crore.
