Former NESCO Junior Engineer Convicted in Bribery Case

Odisha Vigilance secured a conviction in Keonjhar today as the Special Judge, Vigilance, sentenced Ananta Kumar Sahoo, former Junior Engineer of Electrical Section No.III, NESCO, to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine in a bribery case.

Investigators proved that Sahoo demanded and accepted ₹6,000 from a consumer in exchange for providing an electricity connection to a newly constructed house. Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted him under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The court found him guilty and delivered the judgment on January 28, 2026. Sahoo, disengaged from service earlier, now faces imprisonment along with the fine imposed.
