Former CMC Corporator Ranjita Biswal arrested again, two guns seized from her

Surjit Kumar Dhal,Cuttack, April 10: Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested former Cuttack Municipalty Corporation Corporator Ranjita Biswal and seized a gun from her possession.

She was earlier arrested in connection with her links with gangsters Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamant (D-brothers) but was out on bail granted by Orissa High Court on July 24 last year.

Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh informed that an associate of the D-brothers was arrested on Tuesday and a gun seized from his possession.

Based on information obtained during his interrogation, the police raided the former Corporator’s house and recovered two guns.

He said it appears the Dhalasamant brothers were plotting a crime during the polls.

The Commissionerate Police had arrested Ranjita in March last year for her alleged links with the D-brothers. She was also accused of illegally supplying weapons.
