Former BJD MP Pinaki Mishra Marries TMC’s Mahua Moitra in Private Ceremony

Bhubaneswar: In a surprising development that has caught political circles off guard, former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Pinaki Mishra has tied the knot with Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra. The couple reportedly got married in a quiet ceremony held in Germany on May 3.

Sources indicate that the wedding was an intimate affair, attended only by close friends and family. Both Mishra, 65, and Moitra, 50, had kept their relationship out of the public eye prior to the marriage.

Mishra, a veteran leader and four-time MP from Odisha’s Puri constituency, was previously married to Sangita Mishra and has two children from his earlier marriage. A noted legal professional, Mishra had also represented Mahua Moitra as her lawyer in the Supreme Court in the past.

Moitra, who represents the Krishnanagar constituency in West Bengal, has served two terms in the Lok Sabha as a TMC leader. She was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson, from whom she is divorced.

The outspoken MP made national headlines during her first term after being expelled from the Lok Sabha in a high-profile cash-for-query case. Despite the controversy, she made a strong political comeback by winning her seat again in the 2024 General Elections.

The union of the two prominent political figures has sparked widespread curiosity, though both have remained tight-lipped about the development.
