Excise Officials Seize Heroin Worth Rs 4 Lakh in Cuttack, One Arrested

Bhubaneswar: In a major anti-drug operation, excise officials on Saturday seized 40 grams of heroin (brown sugar), estimated to be worth around Rs 4 lakh, from Balisahi area under Madhupatana Police Station in Cuttack district. One person was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The accused has been identified as Abhimanyu Nayak (39), a resident of Nuapada village under Madhupatana police limits. The Cuttack-I Excise Station has registered a case against him under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

According to officials, the raid was conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Excise, Cuttack, Karuna Sankar Tewary, and supervised by Deputy Superintendent of Excise (DSE) Arupa Panigrahi. The operation was carried out by a team led by Tarun Kumar Patro, Officer-in-Charge of Cuttack-I Excise Station, along with ASI Bishnu Prasad Majhi, LEC Basanti Salima, and excise constables Deepak Kumar Sahoo and Sourajit Mohapatra.
Excise officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region and ensure strict enforcement of narcotics laws.
