Escaped Choudwar Jail Inmate Arrested in Rishikesh; Two of Three Now in Custody

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police have arrested an inmate who had escaped from Choudwar jail, tracking him down to Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.

Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania confirmed the arrest and stated that the accused, identified as Sahani, was hiding in disguise to evade capture. He is currently being brought back to Odisha on transit remand.

With this development, two out of the three inmates who escaped from Choudwar jail have now been apprehended. Earlier, co-accused Madhukant Rana was arrested from Vrindavan.

The trio had managed to escape on the day of Dussehra after cutting through the jail grill, raising serious concerns over prison security. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident, including the possibility of internal assistance in the jailbreak.
