Errors in OPSC, OSSC Question Papers Spark Resentment Among Candidates

Bhubaneswar: Several anomalies were reported in the question papers of competitive examinations conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) on Sunday, sparking resentment among candidates across the state.

Candidates appearing for the Odisha Civil Services (Main) Examination-2023, conducted by the OPSC, detected discrepancies in the Anthropology Paper-I. They alleged that questions from the syllabus meant for Anthropology Paper-II had been mistakenly included in the Paper-I exam. Despite acknowledging the error, the OPSC proceeded with the examination.

“The candidates were asked to appear for the exam. A final decision will be taken after examining the questions of Anthropology Paper-II,” the OPSC said in a statement.

Meanwhile, anomalies were also found in the Combined Recruitment Examinations (Main) conducted by the OSSC. Candidates reported that crucial sections of the syllabus — including English, Odia literature, and General Knowledge — were missing from the question paper.

The OSSC later expressed regret over the errors and assured candidates that corrective measures would be taken. “The commission is considering holding a fresh examination to cover the omitted portions of the syllabus. Candidates are encouraged to submit their suggestions via e-mail (ossc.od@nic.in) by May 4,” the OSSC stated.

The incidents have triggered widespread dissatisfaction among aspirants, many of whom are demanding clear and swift action from the commissions to address the lapses.
