Elderly Beggar Killed by Roommate in Jajpur

Jajpur: An elderly beggar was brutally murdered by his roommate near Military Chhak under Jajpur Road police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

While the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, the accused has been identified as 32-year-old Sanjay Nath.

According to reports, both the accused and the victim were living in an abandoned house near Military Chhak. On Sunday night, while Sanjay was teaching his child at the house, a heated argument broke out between him and the beggar over an unknown issue. In a fit of rage, Sanjay allegedly crushed the elderly man with a stone before slitting his throat, killing him on the spot.

Upon receiving information, Jajpur Road police, along with a scientific team, arrived at the scene, recovered the blood-soaked body, and launched an investigation.

The accused has been detained, and further inquiries are underway.
