ECoR to Run Weekly Special Trains for Festive Season Rush

Bhubaneswar: To cater to the heavy passenger rush during the upcoming festive season, the Indian Railways has announced weekly special trains on several routes under the East Coast Railway (ECoR). The additional services will operate till October and November 2025, connecting Odisha with key destinations across the country.

One such service will run between Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar New. Train No. 07165 will leave Hyderabad at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays up to October 28, while the return service, Train No. 07166, will leave Bhubaneswar New at 10:30 pm on Wednesdays up to October 29. The train will have stoppages at Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Vizianagaram, Palasa, Brahmapur, and Khurda Road, among others. It will consist of AC, sleeper, and general coaches.

Another weekly special will connect MGR Chennai Central and Barauni. Train No. 06039 will depart from Chennai at 11:50 pm on Sundays till November 30, and Train No. 06040 will return from Barauni at 9:00 pm on Wednesdays till December 3. The train will halt at important stations including Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar New, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Kharagpur, Dankuni, Asansol, and Jasidih.

Similarly, a weekly special will be introduced between Trivandrum North and Santragachi. Train No. 06081 will leave Trivandrum North at 4:20 pm on Fridays till October 17, while Train No. 06082 will start from Santragachi at 2:20 pm on Mondays till October 20. The train will stop at major stations like Ernakulam, Coimbatore, Salem, Renigunta, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Vizianagaram, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar New, and Kharagpur.

In addition, a weekly special will connect Madurai and Barauni. Train No. 06059 will depart from Madurai at 8:40 pm on Wednesdays till November 26, while Train No. 06060 will leave Barauni at 11:00 pm on Saturdays till November 29. Stoppages include Salem, Katpadi, Gudur, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar New, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Kharagpur, Dankuni, Durgapur, Asansol, and Jhajha.

According to ECoR, these special trains have been planned with a mix of AC, sleeper, and general class coaches to accommodate the increased number of passengers expected during the festive season.
