ECoR Augments Coaches in Key Express Trains to Manage Passenger Rush

Bhubaneswar: To cater to the increased passenger demand and ensure enhanced travel comfort, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has temporarily augmented additional coaches in several express trains, including the Tejas Rajdhani, Hirakhand Express and Shatabdi Express services.
According to official sources, one additional AC 2-Tier coach will be attached to the Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 22823) on January 23, 2026. Similarly, the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 22824) will also get one extra AC 2-Tier coach on January 24, 2026.

To accommodate more passengers travelling on the Hirakhand route, one additional Sleeper Class coach will be attached to the Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express (Train No. 18447) from January 24 to January 31, 2026. Likewise, the Jagdalpur–Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (Train No. 18448) will have an extra Sleeper Class coach from January 25 to February 1, 2026.
In addition, the Puri–Howrah Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12278) will be augmented with one additional AC Chair Car coach from January 22 to January 27, 2026. The same arrangement will be in place for the Howrah–Puri Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12277) during the same period.
East Coast Railway officials said the temporary augmentation is part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger convenience and ensure smoother travel during peak periods. Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and take advantage of the increased accommodation.
