ECoR Announces Special Trains, Additional Coaches to Manage Festive Passenger Rush

Bhubaneswar: To meet increased passenger demand and clear the festive rush, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced special train services and augmentation of coaches on key routes connecting Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Howrah.

ECoR said the following special trains will operate as per schedule:

  • Train No. 08401 Bhubaneswar–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus special will depart on 07.12.2025.
  • Train No. 08402 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Sambalpur special will depart on 09.12.2025.
  • Train No. 08403 Puri–Anand Vihar Terminal special will leave on 08.12.2025.
  • Train No. 08404 Anand Vihar Terminal–Bhubaneswar special will leave on 09.12.2025.
  • Train No. 08501 Visakhapatnam–SMVB Bengaluru special will depart on 08.12.2025.
  • Train No. 08502 SMVB Bengaluru–Visakhapatnam special will depart on 09.12.2025.

In addition to running special trains, ECoR has augmented extra AC coaches in several regular services to manage peak crowd:

  • Train No. 22811 Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani (07.12.2025) and Train No. 22812 New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani (08.12.2025) have been provided with one First AC coach.
  • Train No. 22823 Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani (08.12.2025) and Train No. 22824 New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani (09.12.2025) have been augmented with one Third AC coach.
  • Train No. 12882 Puri–Shalimar Garib Rath (08.12.2025 & 10.12.2025) and Train No. 12881 Shalimar–Puri Garib Rath (09.12.2025 & 11.12.2025) will have one 3rd AC Economic coach added.
  • Train No. 22883 Puri–Yesvantpur Garib Rath (12.12.2025) and Train No. 22884 Yesvantpur–Puri Garib Rath (13.12.2025) will also run with one 3rd AC Economic coach.

ECoR has advised passengers to check real-time seat availability through the IRCTC website, NTES app and railway enquiry services and plan their travel in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
