East Coast Railway Celebrates International Women’s Day, Felicitates 31 Women Employees

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR), in association with the East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with enthusiasm at the Railway Auditorium in Bhubaneswar, recognising the significant contributions of women employees across different departments.

Speaking on the occasion, ECoRWWO President Kavita Funkwal encouraged women railway employees to acknowledge their inner strength and capabilities and continue working with confidence and determination. She urged them to contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s growth while inspiring others through their dedication and achievements.

Kanta Mohanty, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Khordha, under the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha, and a POSH trainer, attended the event as the Chief Guest.

During the programme, a total of 31 women railway employees were felicitated for their contributions and achievements. Among them, 15 women employees from various departments were honoured for their outstanding professional performance, while 16 others received awards for their active participation and success in competitions organised as part of the celebrations.

The International Women’s Day celebrations were also held at all divisional headquarters across the East Coast Railway zone.

Chief Personnel Officer (Industrial Relations) Anjan Ray, who coordinated the programme, congratulated the women employees for their dedication and valuable service to the Railways.

The event concluded with a vibrant cultural performance presented by women railway employees, adding a festive and inspiring touch to the celebration.
