Eagle Seen Perching on Jagannath Temple Flag in Puri, Sparks Discussion Among Devotees

Bhubaneswar: An eagle was spotted perching atop the flag of the Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town on Thursday, drawing attention from devotees and local residents.
According to reports, the bird sat for a brief period on the ‘Patitapaban’ flag attached to the Neelachakra of the temple before flying away. The unusual sight quickly sparked discussions among devotees and locals, as the presence of birds atop the shrine is considered by many to be a bad omen.
The rare incident was witnessed by several devotees visiting the temple and people in the surrounding area. Many gathered to observe the bird before it eventually flew away.
A similar incident had occurred in April last year when an eagle was seen perching atop the 12th-century shrine. Such occurrences challenge the widely held belief that birds do not fly over the Jagannath Temple.
