Drunk youth attacks journalist with sword in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: In a shocking incident, a drunk youth brutally attacked a journalist by a sword in which he has sustained critical injuries. The incident happened on Friday night in Papdahandi village of Nabarangpur district.

According to information, he was returning on his bike to his village Papadahandi from Nabarangpur town. The journalist has been identified as Sumit Ghanta. The youth was identified as Harekrushna Behera.

The youth attacked Ghanta when he was going on his bike, however, he managed to protest the youth and threw away the sword only after receiving some blows with it. The locals rushed to the spot and caught the youth and thrashed him. He was then rushed to the medical.

Ghanta has sustained injuries at four places on his chest, stomach and hands. The locals rushed him to the Primary healthcare Centre (PHC), but was then referred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Nabarangpur. When his health further deteriorated he was shifted to Visakhapatnam.

Though the exact reason behind the sword attack on the journalist is not known, it suspected that Behera had a grudge on him. Reportedly, Behera had been scaring the people with the sword for the last 2 days. On Friday, Ghanta had informed the police about him. Angry with this, he was waiting to launch an attack on Ghanta.

Police investigation underway.
