Dr Satyajit Naik Awarded DGP’s Disc on 90th Odisha Police Formation Day

Cuttack: Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Dr Satyajit Naik, IPS, was honoured with the prestigious DGP’s Disc in recognition of his exemplary policing and leadership during his tenure as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range, covering Balasore and Bhadrak districts.
The award was conferred by the Director General of Police, Odisha, during the 90th Odisha Police Formation Day celebrations held at R.K. Padhi Memorial Hall near the Senior Officers’ Mess at Reserve Police Lane, Buxibazar, Cuttack. Dr Naik was among 119 Odisha Police personnel selected this year for the DGP’s Disc for exceptional service, dedication to duty and outstanding contributions to maintaining law and order.

Dr Naik was recognised for his significant role in ensuring communal harmony, effective management of sensitive law and order situations, supervision of investigations into serious crimes and efforts to curb wildlife poaching in the Eastern Range. His tenure was marked by a balanced approach combining firm law enforcement with proactive community engagement, stakeholder dialogue and long-term preventive measures to ensure sustainable peace.
A 2008-batch IPS officer, Dr Naik was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police with effect from January 1, 2026. During his career, he has held several key positions, including DIG, Central Range and DIG, Eastern Range, and is known for his professional integrity, people-centric policing and strategic leadership.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the honour, Dr Naik said the award reflected the collective efforts of the police force and the guidance of senior leadership. He thanked officers of all ranks for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Odisha with renewed dedication in his present role as IGP, Central Range.
