Bhubaneswar: Good news for the domestic fliers, especially the business and leisure travellers. Direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda will resume operational from August 16, informed the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) today.

As per an X post of the CMO, the direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda will be launched under the government’s visionary ‘B-MAAN’ (Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network) scheme.

The direct flight services from the two destinations i.e Veer Surendra Sai Airport (Jharsuguda airport) and Biju Patnaik International Airport  (Bhubaneswar airport) is expected to create immense potential in the state in terms of passenger transport, industrial growth, tourism development and connectivity.

Star Air will fly its Embraer E175 aircraft on the new route to enhance intra-state connectivity in Odisha. Booking for the same has already begun on the official website of the Star Air and popular travel portals. The introductory fare from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda starts at Rs 1,599 and Rs 1,699 for the return journey.

However, it is not for the first time that the direct flight is introduced between the two destinations. Alliance Air was operating the direct flights on the route but it suspended the services due to viability gap funding (VGF) issues. As per reports, the airlines is yet to resume the flight services even though the VGF issue has been resolved.
