Dhenkanal: Man dies, brother-in-law critical in bike accident

Hindol: In a tragic incident, one person died while another one is critical after their bike rammed into the pick-up van this morning. The incident happened near Bahalunda on the Puruna Katak-Sambalpur road under Hindol police station in Dhenkanal district of Odisha.
The deceased has been identified as Bhisma Behera and his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) is Papu Behera. He and his brother-in-law were going their bike when he lost balance and rammed into a pick-up van.
The locals rushed to the spot and rescued them. Bhisma died on the spot while, Papu was taken to the Hindol hospital.
According to information, they were returning from Nuabaga village in their bike to Rasol when they rammed into a pick up van stationary on the road.
Following the accident there was a road blockade by the locals demanding compensation. This led to a traffic congestion on Puruna Katak-Sambalpur road and vehicles were stranded on the road. Police reached the spot and tried to coax the irate locals.
The road blockade was cleared and normalcy was restored. The police started an investigation into the matter.
In another incident, a 35-year-old man died in a road accident when he had gone to buy cake for his daughter’s birthday celebration in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Umakanta Padhi, a resident of Mangalpur village under Soro police station limits of the district, works in a private company in Varanasi. He had returned home just two days earlier to celebrate his daughter Harsita’s sixth birthday.
