Dhadak 2 box office collection day 1: Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri’s film fails to impress audiences

Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, collected around Rs. 2.94 crore to Rs. 3.35 crore net in India on its opening day, states multiple sources such as Sacnilk and Bollywood Life. Another source, KS Box Office, estimates a collection of around Rs. 4.50 crore. Despite praising reviews for its explicit plot, the box office reception of the movie was lackluster, particularly when compared to the box office performance of Siddhant’s previous outing Yudhra, which collected Rs. 4.5 crore on its opening day.
The movie, directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Karan Johar, is about a law student who falls in love with his classmate, only to be harassed by her family because of their different castes. Siddhant Chaturvedi appreciated the way the director handled the situation, stating that he wanted to portray things realistically and not over-dramatize or oversimplify.
Dhadak 2 registered a low occupancy rate of 19.78% to 22.85%, with morning shows registering only 15.02% occupancy. The slow opening of the film makes one wonder if it can do better over the weekend. Triptii Dimri’s last release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, opened much bigger, raking in Rs. 35.5 crore. Compared to that, the opening collection of Dhadak 2 appears humble.
