Dense Fog Disrupts Flight Operations at Bhubaneswar Airport, Three Flights Cancelled

Bhubaneswar: Dense fog continued to disrupt flight operations at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Thursday, leading to the cancellation of three flights and delays to at least 15 others. The affected flights were scheduled to operate on the Bhubaneswar–Delhi, Bhubaneswar–Ahmedabad, and Bhubaneswar–Kolkata routes.

According to airport sources, poor visibility caused delays of up to four hours, resulting in significant inconvenience for passengers. Airlines have been issuing regular updates to travellers regarding the status of their flights.

Flight operations were similarly affected on Wednesday due to dense fog, and officials said the weather conditions are likely to persist through the day. Visibility dropped to as low as 50 metres around 6:30 am, making it unsafe for aircraft to take off or land.

Aviation authorities noted that a minimum visibility of around 550 metres is required for normal flight operations. With fog continuing to blanket the city, further disruptions cannot be ruled out.
