Cuttack Police Seize Brown Sugar and Cash in Niali Raid

Police in Cuttack district carried out a successful anti-narcotics operation in Patrakana village under Niali police station limits, seizing 46 grams of brown sugar and cash amounting to approximately ₹1.9 lakh.


The raid was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs about ongoing illegal drug trade in the area.

During the operation, a couple identified as Madhia Mohanty and his wife were apprehended from their residence. However, their son managed to escape during the raid and is currently absconding. Police have launched a search operation to locate and arrest him.

Officials stated that the raid was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, ensuring due legal procedures were followed. The seized contraband and cash are suspected to be linked to local drug distribution activities.

Cuttack Sadar SDPO Bijay Mallik confirmed that a case has been registered at Niali Police Station and further investigation is underway. Authorities are working to identify other individuals involved in the network and to trace the source and distribution channels of the seized substances.

Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying action against drug trafficking in the region, emphasizing continued vigilance and enforcement efforts to curb the spread of narcotics.
