Custodial 3rd degree torture: Wife lodges complaint against 9 Cops

Jajpur: The wife of the accused in the custodial third degree torture case lodged a complaint in the name of atleast 9 police officials. Three police officials of Balichandrapur police station in Jajpur district were suspended on the charges of custodial torture on Thursday.

According to information, the wife of the accused, Rabindra Malik in the custodial third degree torture case lodged a complaint against 9 police professional. Three including the SI, ASI and one constable were suspended.

He was allegedly arrested on a case of family dispute but was subjected to brutal third degree torture by the police. According to sources, the accused was admitted to SCB MCH for allegedly consuming poison inside the jail. He was discharged on Wednesday and sent to his home on bail.

However, police is denying the fact that the accused has not consumed poison inside the police station. But the doctors have made a shocking revelation and said that he has consumed a chemical (hormone) used to fasten the growth in plants. As the dosage of the chemical was less, the patient is alive.

The accused, Rabindra Malik said that he was stripped naked and brutally hit. The officials then kept a bottle of poison in front of him. Fearing more torture he consumed the chemical he said.

It was alleged that the police beat Rabindra Malik of Mahipur village under Anaka Gram Panchayat, in a case related to a relationship. Rabindra became seriously injured due to the police beating.

He was shifted to Cuttack in a serious condition. However, it was alleged that no information was provided to the family that Rabindra was admitted to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

It is further worth mentioning that, as many as four police personnel were guarding him at the hospital.
