Sundargarh: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly died by suicide at the Matkanjharan CRPF camp under Lathikata police limits in Rourkela on Monday morning, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Subhash Prasad (56), a havildar from Uttar Pradesh. According to preliminary information, he is suspected to have used his service weapon inside the camp premises.

While the exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be determined, initial reports suggest that personal or family-related issues may have contributed to the tragic act.

The Matkanjharan CRPF camp was established in October last year along the Odisha–Jharkhand border to strengthen security and curb Maoist activity in the region. It was inaugurated by Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai in the presence of Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani.
