Couple kills self in Umerkote

Umerkote: In a tragic incident, a couple has killed themselves said reliable reports on Tuesday. The incident has been reported from Sanabhimaguda village under Dhodra police station in Umarkote.

Reports said that, while the man identified as Sutam Batra killed himself by hanging from a tree near his house, his wife identified as Phulmani Batra hanged herself with a dupatta at their home.

Recently a woman tried to kill herself in Nayagarh district of Odisha due to torture by youth, however she turned critical and was admitted to the hospital.

According to reports, the young woman has been admitted to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. The incident took place under the Nayagarh Town Police Station area.

Reports further said that, the young woman has said that a youth identified as Maheshwar Behera abused her in vulgar language on the road.

A few days ago, the young woman’s family complained to the police that the young man had tried to run her over with a car on the street. However, it is alleged that the police did not take the incident seriously.

Yesterday, for some reason, Maheshwar threatened the woman’s family and the young woman attempted to kill herself as she got upset. She has been rescued in a serious condition and admitted to a hospital nearby. The Nayagarh Town Police Station has detained the young man, Maheshwar Behera, and is investigating the matter.
