Constable saves passenger’s life at Cuttack Railway Station

Cuttack: In a heroic act, GRP Constable Tulu Behera saved a passenger’s life at Cuttack Railway Station on Thursday. Behera, a Constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Cuttack, rescued 44-year-old Mohammad Mujahir from West Bengal, who had fallen from a moving train and was about to be crushed under its wheels.

According to reports, Mujahir was trying to board the Kishanganj-bound Kanyakumari-Debrigarh Express when he fell from the train’s steps. Constable Behera, who was on duty, quickly sprang into action and pulled Mujahir to safety just in time.

The Director General of Police (DGP) has praised Behera’s bravery and awarded him a commendation and a reward of Rs 2,500. Additional DGP, Railways and Coastal Security Arun Bothra also congratulated Behera on his courageous act.

This is not the first time Behera has saved a life. About six months ago, he had performed a similar heroic act, and he expressed satisfaction in being able to help people in need.
