Cold wave tightens grip across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to shiver under the cold wave, with G Udaygiri registering the lowest temperature in the state at 4.8 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. Eleven cities in Odisha recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. The cold wave persists across the state, from east to west and north to south.
According to the weather forecast, the cold wave will grip the state until December 12. The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicts that the unbearable cold wave will continue in the state for the next two days.
The cold wave is persisting due to cold, dry air blowing from the northwest, causing temperatures to drop. In north-interior Odisha, temperatures are 5 to 6 degrees Celsius below normal, while in south Odisha, temperatures are 2 to 3 degrees Celsius below normal.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicts that the cold wave will ease after December 13. Meanwhile, there is also a possibility of dense fog in various districts for the next two days.
