Cold wave conditions to intensify across Odisha from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the temperature will drop further across Odisha, which will bring a fresh spell of cold across the state from December 25 onwards. With this, the ongoing cold wave conditions across the state will intensify further from tomorrow, which happens to be Christmas.
The cold wave is likely to intensify due to an increased flow of dry and cold north-westerly winds over the state. In addition, the weakening and departure of a western disturbance is also said to be another reason behinf the sharp drop in night temperatures across several districts.
Meanwhile, dense fog continues to disrupt normal life of people in multiple parts of Odisha. Due to the dense fog, visibility drops during the night and early morning hours. Meteorological officials cautioned that fog conditions could worsen in the coming days due to the increase in humid air circulation in the lower atmosphere, the fog may become thicker in the coming days.
People should take caution while venturing outside or travelling on roads during early morning hours, as foggy conditions may disrupt road and rail movement.
