Coast Guard Showcases Rescue Operations, Plans Expansion in Odisha

Paradeep: The Indian Coast Guard today demonstrated its operational skills and rescue capabilities during a one-day exercise held at Paradeep in Odisha.

The exercise featured a series of coordinated drills involving ships and helicopters, simulating emergency scenarios such as an aircraft crash at sea to highlight swift and well-coordinated rescue responses.

Inspector General Iqbal Singh Chouhan, Coast Guard (North East), said the force plans to expand its footprint in Odisha over the next four to five years. As part of this expansion, an offshore patrol vessel will be stationed at Gopalpur.

The Coast Guard is also holding discussions with the state government for the development of dedicated jetties. Additionally, a proposal has been submitted to establish a drone and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) station at Dhamra to further strengthen maritime surveillance and emergency response capabilities.
