Coast Guard Inducts FPV Adamya to Strengthen Odisha Coast Security

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Friday inducted its new fast patrol vessel (FPV) Adamya into service, enhancing coastal security and surveillance along the Odisha coast.
The vessel was formally commissioned at a ceremony attended by Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary (Defence Policy, Armed Forces Wing, CSD & Planning). Built by Goa Shipyard Limited, Adamya is one of eight FPVs being constructed for the Coast Guard and will be based at Paradip.

With a top speed of 27 knots (about 50 kmph), the FPV is equipped for round-the-clock patrolling, anti-piracy operations, prevention of infiltration, and deep-sea rescue missions. It will be operated by a crew of five officers and 34 personnel.
Officials said the induction of Adamya will significantly strengthen maritime law enforcement, coastal surveillance, search-and-rescue capabilities, and protection of India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
