CM Majhi Vows Zero Tolerance on Women’s Safety, Crackdown on Organised Crime

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, addressing the state-level Independence Day celebrations at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, announced a series of strong measures to ensure women’s safety and curb organised crime across the state.

The CM declared that all educational institution campuses will be designated as “safe zones,” with a complete ban on drug use and strict action against anti-social activities by non-students. He said the government has begun implementing the Shaktishri programme to provide a secure environment for female students.

Reiterating the state’s zero-tolerance policy on crimes against women, Majhi warned that strict action would be taken against offenders, irrespective of their social standing or political influence. “No one who commits violence against women will be spared,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister also announced an intensified crackdown on organised crime, including extortion and forced donations. Identified gangsters will face stringent punishment, and the government is prepared to introduce new laws to strengthen the fight against such activities.

Majhi said these initiatives are aimed at building a safer and more secure environment for women and students in Odisha.
