CM Majhi Unfurls Tricolour, Announces Monday Grievance Redressal

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday unfurled the national flag at Barabati Stadium during the state-level celebrations of the 77th Republic Day and outlined the state government’s roadmap for governance, with a strong focus on transparency, efficiency and public service delivery.

Addressing the gathering amid patriotic fervour, parades and cultural performances, the Chief Minister announced that Mondays will be dedicated exclusively to grievance redressal across Odisha. He said senior officers from the state to district levels will prioritise hearing public grievances on Mondays, except when engaged in extremely important official meetings.

Majhi stressed that a clean, efficient, transparent, sensitive and corruption-free administration is crucial for the effective implementation of government policies. He said this approach has been a priority since the beginning of his tenure, noting that more than 400 government services are now available online, allowing citizens to access them from their homes.

Highlighting grievance redressal as a key focus area, the Chief Minister said he has personally met over 50,000 people through various public outreach programmes, resolving around 15,000 grievances with a success rate of nearly 95 per cent. He added that over 24,000 beneficiaries were recently added under the Subhadra scheme through public grievance hearings, describing it as a reflection of a people-centric government.

The Chief Minister said a 15-point programme has been implemented to make the administrative system more agile and efficient, ensuring quicker and improved delivery of public services. He also announced that nearly 40,000 government appointments have been made so far, adding that the government is on track to fulfil its commitment of providing 1.5 lakh jobs over five years. Majhi described the coming years as “years of opportunities” for the youth of Odisha in both the government and private sectors.

On efforts to curb corruption, Majhi praised the Odisha Vigilance Department, calling it the best in the country. He said the department has achieved a conviction rate of over 50 per cent against corrupt officials, sending a strong message that corruption will not be tolerated in the state.
