CM Majhi Orders CBI Probe into Police SI Recruitment Scam

Bhubaneswar: In a major development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination scam.
The decision follows mounting allegations of large-scale irregularities and corruption in the recruitment process. Preliminary findings by the Crime Branch-CID indicate the possible involvement of an inter-state organised criminal network operating across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Officials said the Chief Minister’s decision aims to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation, uncover the full extent of the corruption, and bring all those involved to justice.
In a bid to prevent similar incidents in the future, the state government is also considering setting up a permanent recruitment commission for police and other uniformed services. The proposed body would be responsible for maintaining transparency, fairness, and accountability in the selection process.
