CM Majhi Invites Parents for Sishu Vatika Enrollment Drive on April 2
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended warm greetings to parents and guardians ahead of the ‘Prabesh Utsav’ (Entry Ceremony) and ‘Khadi Chhuan’ programmes scheduled to be held across Odisha on April 2, 2026, to welcome new students into Sishu Vatika.
In an official statement, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of quality education in building a developed and prosperous state. He noted that Odisha became the first state in the country to introduce Sishu Vatika (pre-primary sections) in all government primary schools from the previous academic session, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

“Sishu Vatika has become a joyful space for young children—filled with happiness, learning, and the promise of a bright future,” Majhi said.
For the 2026–27 academic session, the state government has made comprehensive arrangements to enroll children above five years of age in Sishu Vatika and those above six years in Class 1 by September 2026.
The Prabesh Utsav and Khadi Chhuan programmes will mark the formal beginning of the academic journey for thousands of children. Meanwhile, the government is also intensifying efforts under the “Aasa School Jiba” (Let us go to school) campaign to bring back out-of-school children in the 5–18 age group.
Appealing directly to guardians, the Chief Minister urged them to participate in the initiative and ensure their children’s enrollment, making the start of their educational journey memorable.
The events will be organised in schools across the state with colourful celebrations, cultural programmes, and community participation to create a welcoming environment for new learners.
