CEO Warns Against AI-Generated Fake Photo Ahead of Nuapada Bypoll

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha has issued a warning after a misleading, AI-generated photo of a prominent national party leader and an elected MLA surfaced on social media.

According to officials, the image, posted by an individual user, was found to be false and digitally fabricated. The CEO has taken cognisance of the matter and assured that strict action will be taken against those spreading such misinformation.

Emphasising the need to protect the integrity of the electoral process, the CEO appealed to citizens not to share or forward unverified content, especially during the sensitive election period.

“With the Nuapada Assembly by-election set for November 11, spreading false or AI-generated content can mislead voters and disrupt a free and fair poll,” the CEO said.

Citizens have been urged to use social media responsibly and verify all election-related information before sharing it to maintain peaceful and transparent elections in the state.
