Central Range Police Conduct ‘Operation Jeevan Raksha’, Check 1,401 Vehicles

Cuttack: The Central Range Police on Sunday carried out a special road safety enforcement drive titled “Operation Jeevan Raksha” across various districts under its jurisdiction to enhance road safety, ensure compliance with traffic laws, and prevent road accidents.

During the drive, systematic checking of commercial buses, transport vehicles, heavy vehicles and other motor vehicles was conducted at identified vulnerable points and high-traffic locations. The operation focused on detecting traffic violations, enforcing safety norms, and deterring rash and negligent driving.

In Puri district, police checked 495 vehicles and collected fines amounting to ₹3,12,500 for various traffic violations. In Cuttack district, checking was carried out in Kantapada and Parsurampura areas, where five commercial buses were inspected as part of the enforcement drive.

In Kendrapara district, a total of 160 vehicles were checked and fines worth ₹33,000 were imposed. Similarly, Jagatsinghpur district saw the inspection of 128 vehicles, with ₹16,000 collected as fines. In Jajpur district, police checked 184 vehicles and realized ₹29,500 as penalty.

Vehicle checking was also conducted in Khordha district near the Godipada Toll Plaza under Jankia Police Station, where four transport and heavy vehicles were inspected. In Nayagarh district, police teams checked 425 vehicles and collected fines amounting to ₹79,000.

Overall, across the Central Range, 1,401 vehicles were checked during Operation Jeevan Raksha. As many as 12 buses and eight transport/heavy vehicles were specifically inspected, and a total fine of ₹4.70 lakh was collected during the drive.

The Central Range Police reiterated its commitment to road safety and appealed to all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules, wear protective gear, avoid overspeeding and drunken driving, and cooperate with enforcement agencies. Officials said such special enforcement drives would continue in the interest of public safety and to save precious human lives.
