CBSE Summit Stresses Vocational Education in Schools

New Delhi: Integrating vocational education into regular schooling is essential to prepare students for future employment opportunities, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy T K Anil Kumar said on Monday.

Addressing the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) 4th National Summit on Facilitating School-to-Work Transition in New Delhi, Kumar said the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and vocational training. He emphasised that schools must encourage students to develop the ability to learn continuously and adapt to changing circumstances.

Kumar highlighted four key areas discussed at the summit: technology and digital safety, creativity and innovation, recognition of skills across different systems and countries, and career counselling with equal opportunities for all learners.

He said the transition from school to employment should help students make informed career decisions, enhance their abilities, contribute meaningfully to society and lead dignified lives.

According to the Education Ministry, the two-day summit aims to bring skill-based learning closer to mainstream education and help students prepare for the changing demands of the job market. The initiative also seeks to remove barriers between different educational streams and equip young people with practical skills and competencies needed for their professional futures.
