CBI Raids IAS Officer Bishnupada Sethi’s Residence in ₹10 Lakh Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid today at the residence of IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in Bhubaneswar in connection with a ₹10 lakh bribery case linked to Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited, a central public sector enterprise headquartered in Kolkata.

According to reports, the CBI officials arrived at Sethi’s residence in the morning and conducted a search operation. However, Sethi has denied any involvement in the case.

Refuting the accusations, Sethi stated that no FIR had been filed against him and claimed he had no links with Chanchal Mukherjee, an accused in the case.

“I don’t know anything about the raid. I have no connection with Chanchal Mukherjee. I haven’t received any favors from the Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited. Mukherjee had unrestricted access to the State Secretariat due to his prior work in various state government departments,” he said.

Sethi also alleged that the CBI team harassed him and his family members during the raid. “Their behavior towards us has been very rough,” he claimed.

The CBI had earlier served a notice to Sethi regarding the case. The agency has already arrested Chanchal Mukherjee, Group General Manager of Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited, after registering a case against him.

Mukherjee was arrested on December 7 near a star hotel in Jayadev Vihar while allegedly accepting a ₹10 lakh bribe from Santosh Moharana, director of Penta A Studio Private Ltd, and Debadutta Mohapatra, a middleman.

The investigation into the bribery case is ongoing.
