CBI Clears Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given a clean chit to actor Rhea Chakraborty in the death case of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, stating there is no evidence to suggest she “illegally confined, threatened, or abetted” the actor’s suicide.

Sushant’s family, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the report, calling it incomplete and insufficient.

1. Rhea Left Sushant’s Flat on June 8, 2020

The report states that Rhea and her brother Showik left Rajput’s Bandra flat on June 8. They did not return afterward. Between June 8 and June 14, Sushant did not communicate with Rhea or her family, except a single WhatsApp message to Showik on June 10.

2. Sushant’s Sister Stayed Till June 12

Sushant’s sister, Meetu Singh, stayed with him from June 8 to June 12. His manager, Shruti Modi, had not visited the flat since February due to a leg injury.

3. Rhea Took Personal Gifts

The CBI clarified that Rhea took her Apple laptop and wristwatch, gifts from Sushant, when she left. There was no evidence that any other property was removed dishonestly.

4. Sushant Considered Rhea Part of the Family

The report noted that Rhea and Sushant were in a live-in relationship from April 2019 to June 2020. Sushant’s finances were handled by his accountant and lawyer. He considered Rhea part of the family. Therefore, any expenses on her were legitimate and not deceitful.

5. Alleged Threats Were Hearsay

The CBI found no evidence that Rhea or others threatened Sushant. Claims about medical records were hearsay. There was no supporting proof in digital or physical records.

Conclusion

The closure report states that there is no evidence of abetment, coercion, or illegal confinement by Rhea Chakraborty or others.

The Patna court will next hear the closure report on December 20, 2025.
