Car carrying Ganja catches fire in Sonepur

Binika: In a shocking incident, a car carrying Ganja suddenly caught fire. The incident happened near the Nuabazar area in Binika of Sonepur district.
According to information, a car caught fire and burnt in the middle of the road in Binica. The car driver fled the scene.
The locals rushed to the spot and found out that the driver is not there. They saw something being transported and informed the police and the fire brigade.
The police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The fire tenders doused the fire when the car was semi-charred. It was an Innova car and had no registration number.
The police inspected the sample of what was being carried and found that it was Ganja being smuggled in a car without any registration number.
The police seized the vehicle and the contraband goods. Further investigation underway.
In another incident, Excise officials reportedly seized heroin, brown sugar and ganja from six different places of Odisha and arrested a total of eight persons including a woman in Manglabag of Cuttack city on September 3.
The Manglabag Police in Cuttack city conducted a raid in the Hadia Patha area of the Mahanad river bank of the Silver City and arrested three drug peddlers after seizing 24.47 grams of brown sugar from them. Police also seized three mobile phones and train tickets from their possessions whom they identified as Sheikh Miraj, Sheikh Adil and Sheikh of Cantonment area.
