Burglars Attack Elderly Man in Nayagarh
Burglars attacked an elderly man and looted valuables from two homes in Nayagarh late Thursday night.
The incident occurred in Khamaresahi village under Nayagarh Town Police limits. Criminals broke into the house of Karaj Swain by smashing the back door. They stole gold, silver, and Rs 2 lakh in cash. In another nearby house, belonging to Bharat Mahanti, burglars forced entry through the rear door. They locked the room from outside where the daughter-in-law was sleeping and stole Rs 50,000, gold earrings, and silver items.
During the burglary, the attackers struck Bharat Mahanti with a sharp weapon while he was asleep. Family members rushed him to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Residents expressed concern as theft cases continue to rise across the Nayagarh district. Locals allege that police have failed to apprehend the culprits despite repeated incidents. The Town Police began an investigation immediately after the crime, but fear and frustration remain high among villagers.
