Bhubaneswar: The 30th meeting of the Board of Directors of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) was held on Tuesday under the chairpersonship of Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

The meeting was attended by Surendra Kumar, ACS, GA & PG Department; Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department; Chanchal Rana, Managing Director, BSCL; S. Dev Datta Singh, CP Bhubaneswar-Cuttack; Sanjay Kumar Biswal, Managing Director, CRUT; and other senior officials.

The Board reviewed the progress of major Smart City projects and approved several new initiatives to strengthen citizen-centric governance, improve infrastructure, and promote sustainable urban living.

One of the key highlights was the review of ‘SaharSathi’, a 24×7 call centre (toll-free number 1929) launched by the Chief Minister on 31 August 2025, which now serves all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Odisha.

Among the major technology-driven projects discussed were the installation of 3,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras, adaptive traffic signal systems, and a city-wide Public Address System to enhance urban safety, women’s security, and real-time monitoring.

The Board also approved plans to upgrade Janpath Road, including the replacement of bamboo fencing with MS iron grills from Master Canteen to Vani Vihar, integrating improved urban design and pedestrian-friendly elements.

In addition, emphasis was placed on expanding solar energy adoption, rooftop rainwater harvesting, and developing child-friendly public spaces. Measures to ensure clean public toilets and well-maintained parks were also recommended.

Anu Garg praised BSCL’s role in driving digital innovation and urban transformation, urging officials to continue prioritising citizen-first governance. She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to making Bhubaneswar a model of inclusivity, resilience, and technology-driven development.
