BJP Announces Manmohan Samal, Sujeet Kumar as Rajya Sabha Candidates from Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced the names of two candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Odisha, further intensifying political activity in the state ahead of the biennial polls.
The party’s Central Election Committee has nominated state BJP president Manmohan Samal and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar for the Upper House seats.
The announcement has triggered fresh discussions in political circles in the state capital, with parties stepping up their preparations and strategies for the elections.
Soon after his candidature was declared, Sujeet Kumar arrived at the state BJP headquarters in Bhubaneswar, where he was warmly welcomed by party leaders and workers. Supporters celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets and expressing confidence in his victory.
Speaking to reporters, Sujeet Kumar thanked the party’s central leadership for reposing faith in him. He said he would continue to work towards strengthening the party and raising issues concerning Odisha in the Rajya Sabha.
With the BJP’s current numerical strength in the Odisha Assembly, the victory of both Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar is considered almost certain. However, speculation continues over whether the party will field a third candidate for the remaining seat. No official announcement has been made so far.
The Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha are expected to play a significant role in shaping the state’s political landscape in the coming weeks.
