BJD govt creating hurdles for Central projects: Pradhan

Surjit Kumar Dhal,Talcher, March 6: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accused the BJD government of stalling many Central projects in Odisha, including the medical college built here at a cost of Rs 500 crore.

“Odisha Government is obstructing operationalisation of the medical college built by Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd the way it has been scuttling many people-oriented Central projects,” Pradhan alleged.

Speaking after inaugurating the academic block of the medical college and hospital here, Pradhan said the state Government is yet to give its no objection certificate for the institute.

Pradhan during his visit here also laid foundation stone for a cancer unit in the medical college and hospital (MCH) which is yet to be made operational.

The Union Minister said though the medical college and hospital building was ready six months ago, the Chief Minister “has laid hurdles in making the institute functional.”

He claimed as per norms, the state is required to recommend to the Centre for permission to start the medical college.
