Bhubaneswar: Dreaded criminal Sadiqul Islam arrested

Bhubaneswar: Dreaded criminal and infamous gold chain snatcher Gandu alias Sadikul Islam was arrested by Kharvel Nagar Police yesterday night in the capital city of Odisha. He surrendered to Police fearing encounter.

As per reports, on 22.04.2025 between 05.35 and 05.55 pm, a woman was going towards Khandia Park of Unit-3, when Sadiqul Islam came from the front side in a red Honda Activa scooter with a black helmet and no number plate and snatched her gold chain weighing 12 grams.

The woman then lodged a complaint against Gandu in Kharvel Nagar Police Station regarding this gold chain snatching. Accordingly Police were investigating the case and searching for Sadiqul Islam.

Yesterday night Police received a solid information from a reliable source that Sadiqul is going to sell the said gold chain to a person of Masjid Colony at a very low price. Accordingly, Police trapped and approached Sadiqul near Keshari Hotel in Master Canteen area. He was trying to escape but fearing police encounter finally surrendered. The officer on duty threatened him of encounter and nabbed the culprit.
