Bhubaneswar: Attempt to Abduct 3 Girls, Including Minor, Foiled at Baramunda Bus Stand

Bhubaneswar: An attempt to abduct three young women, including a minor girl, was foiled at Baramunda Bus Stand in the capital city of Odisha late Monday night, police said.

According to allegations, some NGO workers linked to an Ashram tried to take the girls out of the district. Frightened, the victims ran to the bus stand and hid in nearby lanes and under buses to escape.

Eyewitnesses said several women employees of the NGO were seen chasing them through the stand. Noticing the commotion, security personnel at Baramunda Bus Stand intervened and rescued the girls.

During rescue, the women told security staff they were being taken against their will.

The girls were later handed over to Baramunda Bus Stand outpost police. After questioning, police kept them in a short-stay home and are now verifying CCTV footage from the bus stand and surrounding areas to establish the sequence of events.

Further investigation is underway to identify those involved and determine the motive behind the alleged abduction attempt.
