Bhubaneswar Airport Gets Udan Yatri Café Offering Affordable Meals

Bhubaneswar: Air travellers at Biju Patnaik International Airport can now enjoy food and beverages at pocket-friendly prices with the inauguration of Udan Yatri Café. Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu formally opened the facility today, describing it as part of the Centre’s efforts to make air travel more passenger-friendly.
The café will serve tea, coffee and a variety of snacks at subsidised rates. The concept, first introduced in Kolkata last year, has since been extended to Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune. Bhubaneswar is the latest city to join the list, with the government planning to set up similar outlets at 10 to 15 major airports across the country in the coming year.
Speaking on future infrastructure plans, the minister said the proposed Terminal-3 at Bhubaneswar Airport is in the planning stage and will be taken up soon to handle the rising passenger load.
He further noted that Odisha has nearly 20 airstrips, which could be developed into airports if land is made available and the state government extends cooperation.
On the much-awaited Puri airport project, Naidu said site clearance has already been granted, and the construction will be undertaken by the state government.
“With Lord Jagannath’s blessings, we hope the Puri airport will become a reality soon,” the minister remarked.
